You can change both the input device (a microphone) and output device (headphones or speakers) in Adobe Audition through the menu at the top.

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Edit->Preferences->Audio Hardware
  2. Chose your devices from the Default Input and Default Output drop-down menus
  3. Click OK.
