How to Create a Stunning Message Pop‑Up Animation in Filmora 13 – Step‑by‑Step Guide

Introduction

In this tutorial, I walk you through creating a polished message pop‑up animation using Filmora 13. The process is straightforward and delivers a professional look that can elevate any video project.

Step 1: Build the Message Icon

  1. Open Filmora 13 and add a new project.
  2. Navigate to the Stock Media panel, choose a Gradient color and drag it onto the timeline.
  3. Insert a Text clip, replace the default title, and apply the same gradient style via Advanced Settings. Adjust the angle to 30° and confirm.
  4. Apply a Shape Mask from the Effects tab to give the text a rounded rectangle shape. Resize the mask’s width and height to fit the text, and fine‑tune the corner radius if desired.
  5. Align the text layer to the center of the background, then reduce the background’s scale to create the icon’s visual hierarchy.
  6. Add an entrance animation to the text layer—set the duration to 1 second—to animate the text appearance.
  7. Group these layers into a Compound Clip named “Text Box 1” for easy manipulation.

Step 2: Duplicate and Customize Message Boxes

  1. Duplicate the compound clip to create additional message boxes.
  2. For each copy, adjust the background color, font size, and animation timing. Reverse the background animation on the second box to add visual variety.
  3. Position each box on the timeline where you want them to appear.

Step 3: Design the Pop‑Up Animation

  1. Set all message box layers to 70% scale to prepare for the pop‑up effect.
  2. Add keyframes for Position, rotating each box by 40°, then -40°, and back to 40° to create a subtle shake.
  3. Apply Scale keyframes, starting from 0% and easing to 100% using a continuous curve preset for a smooth transition.
  4. Arrange the order of layers on the timeline to achieve a staggered pop‑up sequence.

Step 4: Add Movement Animation (Optional)

  1. Create another compound clip named “Animation.”
  2. Set the scale to 200% and center the clip, then keyframe position and scale changes to 120% and 100% over a few seconds.
  3. Drag these keyframes to create a subtle zoom and pan effect that enhances the pop‑up’s visual impact.

Step 5: Final Touches

  • Add a Drop Shadow effect: angle 150°, black color, opacity 60%.
  • Preview the animation to ensure timing and motion feel natural.
  • Export the project with your preferred settings.
