The Osmo Pocket has redefined compact cameras with the palm-sized design offing advance mechanical image stabilisation and high-resolution video capture.
When the Osmo arrives its set to the default 1080p at 30fps, which is great for general use and keeps the file size nice and light when it comes to storage and uploading to social media.
But, there’s plenty of other resolution and framerate options, here I’m going to take a look at everything the Osmo Pocket has to offer.
First up what are the options…
DJI Osmo resolutions and framerates
- 1080p 24/25/30/48/50/60/120p
- 4K Ultra HD: 3840×2160 24/25/30/48/50/60p
Changing the resolution and framerates can be done in one of two ways; either directly through the Osmo Pocket or through the App once the device is connected.
All the different resolution and framerate options vary depending on whether you have selected basic or advanced in the video options. In this feature I’ll just be looking at the basic options as the technique for swapping the resolution and framerates is identical in the advanced options.
Change resolution and framerate on the Osmo Pocket
- Power on the Osmo Pocket and select the video mode
- Swipe left on the screen twice
- Swipe up and down to adjust the resolution on the left and framerate on the right
- Push the mode button twice to exit to the main screen
Change the resolution and framerate using the Osmo Pocket Mimo App
- Tap the resolution and framerate icon on the left of the screen
- Tap on the resolution or framerate you wish to change and swipe to adjust
- Tap to close the window with the new settings
For both options, you’ll notice that you can only adjust the 4K ad 1080p framerates in the Basic option to either 30fps or 60fps. In order to access the 120fps in 1080p, you need to select the Slow Motion option.
If you have an early production model of the Osmo Pocket then you’ll need to update the firmware for the slow-motion mode to become available. To do this:
Upgrading the Osmo Pocket firmware
- Plugin the Osmo Pocket into your mobile device
- When the App appears it will highlight that a firmware update is available. Click OK to start the update
- Once the update has completed, quit the app and reboot the Osmo Pocket
