Master Perfect Skin Tones in Video: Simple Pro Techniques

Attempting to color correct skin tones in video using your naked eye is not going to be easy or accurate. Here’s the right way to make skin looks its best using Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro X.

In this video from Denver Riddle for Color Grading Central, you’re going to learn how to adjust the luma, hue, and saturation of a video clip in order to correct the skins tones into a more natural look. This all starts by knowing what the appropriate values for each of these are within the video scopes module, and then later a quick tutorial on how to actually do it all in the editor of your choice. The video will show complete examples in the order of DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, and finally Final Cut Pro X.

It sounds like a huge task for a beginner, but with the included tools inside your video editor it’s going to be made easy. And while the concept shown here is not much of a secret, Riddle helped answer my questions in regards to handling different colors and ethnicities. Check out the full tutorial above for all the information you’ll need.
