On this video tutorial, Aaron Nace from Phlearn takes a look at the new and improved warp tool in Photoshop 2020.
So a few weeks ago Adobe made a huge announcement about new versions of Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom, After Effects, Audition, and many others pieces of software (including a new Adobe full Photoshop version for the iPad), We must say that for us at least many key tools (like content-aware fill) were completely broken in the initial release of PS 2020 but a recent update seemed to fix at least some of the problems – so we would say that in general – wait a while before you update and read some comments on each major release before you update.
The older warp tool in Photoshop was useful but limited. You can drag parts of the image but you didn’t really have fine control over what areas will be warped and what areas will stay “fixed”. Now you can do much more, by clicking CTRL T (or CMD T) and right-clicking on the image you get 3 new options for creating lines vertically, horizontally or crosswise. By creating those in a grid-like pattern and playing with certain areas you can only affect those areas and not the surrounding ones (depending on where you click exactly and how many areas you created.
Do note that you can just choose to create a grid (look at the upper bar and choose grid>costum) so you don’t necessarily need to specifically choose the location of each line although it can be easier if you need a very specific part changed quickly.
