If you’re on Android or iOS, you can use Inshot to brighten a video. Inshot is available on both iOS and Android. It’s the ideal tool if you want to brighten the video and post it on social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok, or Twitter.

Here’s how to brighten a dark video on iPhone or Android using Inshot: 

1. Open Inshot and tap Video to import the video.
   
   
2. Once the video has been imported, navigate to the Filter tab.
   
   
3. Now tap on the Adjust button.
   
   
4. You can now adjust the brightness of your video from the Lightness tab.
5. Tap and drag the handle to the right or left to increase or decrease the brightness of your video.

How to Brighten up a Video in iMovie on Mac

Once you’ve installed VLC on your computer, follow the steps below to brighten a video in Windows 10 or Mac using VLC media player:

1. Open VLC and open the file you want to brighten by going to Media > Open File.
   
   
2. Once you’ve opened the video, go to Tools > Effects and Filters.
   
   
3. In the Adjustments and Effects window, go to the Video Effects tab. Now under the Essential tab, you’d see the controls to adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation, etc.

How to Lighten a Dark Video in Windows 7/8/10 using Windows Movie Maker

Here are the steps to install and brighten a video using the Windows Movie Maker:

1. First, install Windows Movie Maker on your computer. Double-click the installer and pick Choose the programs you want to install option from the first window that appears.
   
   
2. Leave the photo gallery and movie maker checkbox ticked. Untick the rest of the checkboxes as you wouldn’t need the other tools that come with this suite and click on the Install button.

5. Add the Brightness Effect

6. Adjust the Brightness

Once you’ve added the effect to the video, you can now see that the controls to adjust this effect appears in the Effect Controls panel.

You can see that there’s a number (in blue color) beside Brightness. You can click on the number and drag to your right or left to increase or decrease the number. 

Increasing the number increases the brightness or adds more light to the video and decreasing the number decreases the brightness or darkens the video.
