As the most downloaded app globally in 2021, TikTok has risen quickly to the top of the social media world. So it’s no surprise that the platform is constantly adding new features and tools. And their most recently introduced program is particularly exciting for creators: TikTok Creator Next.
Essentially, TikTok Creator Next is a new feature on TikTok that is designed to open more doors for monetization on the platform. If you’re a content creator and you want to learn how to make money on TikTok, keep reading!
How To Make Money Using TikTok Creator Next
TikTok Creator Next comes with several features that creators can take advantage of for monetization opportunities. But before we jump into breaking down each of those features, let’s talk about the basics of TikTok Creator Next.
TikTok Creator Next Overview
According to the platform, TikTok Creator Next is intended to help creators monetize as they grow and develop their communities on the platform. As a user, you’ll get exclusive access to tools and features that can help you make money on the app. If you want to join TikTok Creator Next, you have to meet a few eligibility requirements.
Creators have to be 18 years of age or older, have at least 1,000 video views in the last 30 days, have at least 3 posts in the last 30 days, and meet minimum follower requirements (which vary depending on your region). For more details on eligibility, check out TikTok’s official guidelines here.
How to Use The Features
The TikTok Creator Next program offers several different tools and features that creators can use to monetize their accounts. Let’s take a look at each one and how you can use it as a creator.
TikTok Creator Fund
The TikTok Creator Fund is essentially an incentive from TikTok that rewards users for creating content on the TikTok platform. The platform will support and reward users monetarily who are enrolled in the Creator Fund program. How much you can make from the Creator Fund will vary based on a slew of factors. Funds you receive from TikTok are calculated based on video views, video engagement, and adherence to Community Guidelines.
If you’re interested in making money directly from TikTok, you can apply within the TikTok app by opening your account settings, clicking Creator tools, and then selecting TikTok Creator Fund.
TikTok Creator Marketplace
If you want to make money by collaborating with other brands, then TikTok Creator Marketplace (TTCM) is for you. It’s basically a collaboration platform that provides users with a place to connect with other brands and creators and collaborate together on paid and reward-based campaigns.
When you join TTCM, you’ll be able to set up your creator profile and start collaboration with brands. There are two main ways to collaborate: by direct invite and in open application campaigns. Brands can use TTCM to browse the online marketplace, search for creators, and reach out directly to invite relevant creators to work with them. As a user, you can also utilize the search function to search for relevant open campaigns that have been created by brands and submit your application to work for them.
LIVE Gifts
Another way to monetize your account on TikTok is with LIVE gifts. When you go LIVE on TikTok, you have the option to activate the LIVE Gifts feature. When this feature is turned on, viewers can send Gifts during your LIVE video, which you’ll see pop up as they arrive. This is a great opportunity to engage with your followers and create a connected community — don’t forget to thank your followers by name anytime you see a LIVE Gift pop up.
When you receive LIVE Gifts, TikTok often rewards creators with Diamonds. Diamonds are given based on the popularity of a LIVE video, and a key metric in determining that popularity is the number of LIVE Gifts received. You can then redeem Diamonds for money, giving you another opportunity to earn money directly from TikTok.
Pro tip: There’s a similar feature called Video Gifts that allows you to receive gifts and collect diamonds for short videos (as opposed to only LIVE videos).
Tips
The final way to make money using TikTok Creator Next is with Tips. The Tips feature allows your audience to show their appreciation for your content and allows you, as a creator, to not only monetize your account but also to connect further with your audience.
When you opt-in to the Tips feature, your followers will see a Tips icon on your profile page. They’ll also be able to see the number of supports and any tips that you’ve received. Followers can select the option to Send a tip and choose between $5, $10, $15 or a custom tip amount. They can even choose to send the tip anonymously. As the creator, you’ll receive the full tip potentially minus a processing fee.
