In February 2021, Frame.io introduced its Camera‑to‑Cloud (C2C) feature, allowing crews to ship footage from the camera to the cloud in real time. The technology streams low‑bandwidth, high‑quality H.264 proxies, complete with timecode and filename metadata, via existing LTE or Wi‑Fi connections.
Recently, Frame.io expanded C2C to support in‑camera uploads from the RED V‑Raptor and V‑Raptor XL, enabling 8K REDCODE RAW files to be transmitted straight to the cloud without the need for an external encoder.
The update also covers the Fujifilm X‑H2S, a mirrorless camera that is rapidly becoming a favorite among filmmakers for its hybrid video and stills capabilities. By pairing the X‑H2S with the FT‑XH file‑transfer adapter, photographers can stream RAW images, ProRes and proxy video files directly to Frame.io, eliminating the tether‑shooting bottleneck.
These enhancements bring immediate benefits for a range of professionals—from wedding and event videographers to editorial teams and social‑media influencers. When footage uploads on the fly, editors can begin work instantly, flagging any reshoots or adjustments while the shoot is still underway.
