When Vine introduced an upload option for existing clips in August, it was a game-changer for the looping video app. It gave users unlimited options for creating their 6-second films, allowing professional and pre-edited footage for the first time since the app launched in 2012.
Vine’s updated functionality was also paired with a more robust toolkit for users. Some of the new features include a focus lock to prevent auto-focus issues; ghost mode, to help line up shots for perfect looping; and a torch feature, for capturing video in low-light settings.
It may seem like a challenge to tell a story in just 6 seconds, but the Vine community has accepted and overcome that task brilliantly, appealing to the world’s ever-dwindling attention span with inspiring and clever videos from every corner of the globe.
During the past few weeks, we’ve begun really exploring Vine, curating footage and music from the Shutterstock collection to create fun, 6-second clips. Some of the videos tell interesting stories, while others will simply inspire you — and a few might even make you laugh.
Below are a few of our favorites, and you can see everything we’ve created so far by following @Shutterstock on Vine.

Slow Motion
In real time, the hugely impressive feats of others, everyday actions, and interesting experiments can be too fast for the naked eye. These awe-inspiring clips take only an instant to capture some of those moments. Who knew popping a water balloon could be so fascinating?

Sunrise to Sunset
Starting in Los Angeles, we followed the sun on a journey around the Earth. We made it across Asia and Australia before heading through to Europe and Brazil, finally landing back in the US in Shutterstock’s home city of New York. Our days are getting shorter in the Northern Hemisphere, and now some of our videos are too.
