Steven Sebring's Immersive 360° Video 'Liminal': A Mind-Bending Visual Masterpiece

Ok, the last time I truly attempted skateboarding, I was 14 years old, and I dislocated my right shoulder (still have a beautiful, giant scar). Regardless of my lack of knowledge of the sport, or anyone's for that matter, I think we can all agree that this video of Skater Rodney Mullen shot by photographer extraordinaire Steven Sebring is just cool as hell.

I mean, who doesn't love a great 360° video? Sure, bullet time photography isn't anything new, but I just absolutely love the way this film is edited. Sebring has a giant dome in his studio which houses the 100 cameras that were used to shoot "Liminal." He's also used his rig to shoot for different apps and clients that can use 3D renderings of their projects.

It should also be noted that this is the first time Mullen has filmed something in over twelve years due to an injury, and he didn't hit a camera, not even onceAre you kidding me? I still get nervous shooting skaters from a safe distance, let alone only a fifteen-foot stage — some serious trust between photographer and model here! About his time filming the project, Mullen wrote: "This collaboration of Dhani Harrison, Steven Sebring, and myself was driven simply by a love of what we do." Well sir, we sure love what you guys do as well; the video world thanks you for this piece.
