On this video, photographer Jay P. Morgan from the website the Slanted Lens took a couple of TTL flashes and went to shoot outdoors in the evening, giving us a pick at how he set up his shoot.
On this shoot Morgan went outside in Los Angeles to capture an ancient hero look in the sunset. Morgan used a Canon TTL 600ex and a Strobies Pro-Flash TLi-C with some PocketWizards to control the off camera flashes.
Morgan set both flashed to Manuel, the ISO at 800 and the aperture to f/10 for deep focus. He started with a 1/80 sec shutter but had to lengthen it as the sun lost light in the sky. The aperture stayed the same because the strobes are balanced to the aperture. When he lengthens the shutter, it will not affect the strobe exposure on the face but will brighten what is not lit by the strobes – in this case – the sky.
