Ryan Connolly from Film Riot takes a very quick look at a few ways to create and use simple super cheap DIY solutions for light modifiers and diffusers.
Doing a video and need a way to diffuse or modify light but don’t have the budget to spend on commercial light modifiers? There are some simple ways to create your own with almost no budget at all. Simple white sheet for example can be very useful and a shower curtain you can buy for about $7 can also be a good solution with a somewhat different effect.
A car reflector can also be very useful as a cheap photography/videography reflector. If you don’t have gels for your lights why not use a colored shirt? Simply use it as a reflector and get the color you want – it works!
Serious productions won’t use these tricks and prefer to buy pro accessories instead, however if you are on a budget or even if not and you are missing a key lighting modifier and you are pressed with time – you should know how you can improvise with equipment that you already have or can get easily anywhere.
