Just months after the release of the A9, Sony unveils the third generation of their impressive A7R line of mirrorless cameras.

Sony has just announced a new addition to their A7R mirrorless camera lineup: the A7R III. Boasting a staggering 42.4 megapixel sensor, this camera is sure to make any photographer or videographer turn their head. While the body and build of the camera is relatively the same, expect to see a few more improvements to the camera’s video capabilities. The camera features a new gapless on-chip lens design that’s meant to improve low-light shooting and auto-focus capabilities. Here are a few of the upgrades you’ll find with the Sony A7RIII.
A big improvement from the previous model is the autofocus. This is great news for anybody shooting with a native lens, or if you’re using an adapter that’s compatible with the AF.
This is a big step up for anybody used to the hassle of changing SD cards in the middle of a shoot. Now, you will no longer have to stop recording. The new camera houses two card slots that can run simultaneously, recording and capturing stills at the same time.
Image stabilization has also improved drastically with the new 5 axis-optical image stabilizer, providing 5.5 stops of compensation. For anybody using these cameras in a run-and-gun scenario, filming subjects for documentaries or weddings, the improvisational nature of your shoot will now be easier to manage. Frankly, who doesn’t love more stabilization?

For someone who shoots with the A7s II, the sensor is obviously a vast improvement, and I love the idea of an improved dynamic range with the new sensor.
