iOS 13 Official Release Date: September 19 – Dark Mode & Major Updates

iOS 13 Official Release Date: September 19 – Dark Mode & Major Updates

If you’re filled with anticipation about running iOS 13 on your iPhone, you may be excited to learn that iOS 13 be released on September 19.

iOS 13 features an all new Dark Mode appearance theme, performance improvements, major updates to built-in apps like Photos, Notes, and Reminders, improvements to Files app that allow for support of SMB shares and external storage, new Emoji icons, new Animoji and Memoji capabilities, new wallpapers, and more.

iOS 13 will run on supported devices, including iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone SE, and iPod touch 7th generation.

Remember that iOS 13 is for iPhone and iPod touch, whereas iPadOS 13 is for iPad. The operating systems have diverged and are now two separate versions, though they share mostly the same features and capabilities aside from some extra multitasking functionality on iPad.

For iPad users, iPadOS 13 will be released on September 30, which is a bit later but also happens to be the day the new 10.2″ iPad will be available.

iOS 13 is technically available as a GM build now for developers, and iOS 13.1 is currently in beta for those who are enrolled in the developer and public beta testing programs.

If you’re impatient and don’t want to wait for the official September 19 release date, you can always install the public beta of iOS 13 on iPhone now, but keep in mind that beta system software is buggier and more prone to issues than final stable builds.

WatchOS 6 for Apple Watch will also become available on September 19.

MacOS Catalina will be released in October, though the precise release date is not yet known.
