While the latest super-telephoto lenses from Canon have been delayed until the end of the year, Sigma is ready to start sending out their mega-zoom starting right now.

The 120-300mm F2.8 EX DG OS APO HSM is aimed at wildlife and sports shooters who need both length and speed. Sigma has also equipped it with a couple features valued by those fields, including improved weather-sealing and tougher coatings to prevent environmental hazards like water spots from affecting your images.

It uses Sigma’s Optical Stabilizer, which they claim provides an extra four stops of hand-holdability. Inside, you’ll now find two new “F” Low Dispersion glass elements, as well as a single SLD element to improve overall image quality.

The press release says the retail price is $4,700, but B&H currently has it available for just under $3,200. You can get it in Canon and Nikon mounts, as well as Sigma mount, in case you should want one to go with your new SD1 DSLR.
