Fujifilm X70 Review: A Compact Camera for Street Photography Enthusiasts

The big news out of the Fujifilm camp today is the new X-Pro2, but they also have a couple other new cameras that look pretty promising in the X-E2S mirrorless camera and the X70 advanced compact.

The X70 is a traditional compact, which means there’s no switching lenses. The built-in lens is an 18.5mm F/2.8 lens, which gives you a field of view equivalent to that of a 28mm lens on a full-frame camera. It has a 16.3-megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor like the X-E2S, as well as milled aluminum control dials and precise aperture settings.

The X70 is actually the first camera to include a touchscreen display, which can be rotated 180-degrees for shooting from different angles. It has a completely silent electronic shutter that can operate down to 1/32,000 sec, which makes this sound like a great little street photography camera in the style of the Ricoh GR or the Nikon CoolPix A.

The X70 will cost $699 when it’s available in February, which will make it a nice option for shooters who have been wanting an X100T, but don’t want to pull the trigger due to price. Of course, you miss out on the awesome viewfinder, but it’s still a high-quality camera in a small package.
