In this video tutorial photographer, Glyn Dewis shows a relatively simple way to match colors in an image using Photoshop.
Update 2022: for whatever reason Dewis removed the original video from YouTube. We had to replace it with a different video (still a very useful one – enjoy).
Dewis has a shot of a number of executives with two different colored couches. To match the left one to the right one you need to make sure that the colors are similar and this is done in this case by using the curves function with the target adjustment tool. He does that by creating a small copy of the left couch placed on the right one.
This is done on all three channels the red, greed and blue. The result is a pretty impressive resemblance to the right sofa.
Dewis has one final tip here – he shows how he added a “plastic wrap” effect to make the left sofa look a bit more like the leather one on the right – pretty cool actually.
