Master Photoshop on MacBook Pro: Touch Bar Tutorial

On this video Colin Smith from PhotoshopCAFE shows how to use the Macbook Pro Touchbar in Photoshop.

Apple recently introduced it’s latest incarnation of the Macbook Pro which includes a long display above the keyboard which it calls the Touchbar. This display can do different things depending on the software you are using. This is a new technology so not too many software are supported as of yet – but Photoshop does and this video is all about what you can do with this auxiliary display in Photoshop.

In Photoshop you can use the Touchbar to open a new layer quickly, choose a blend mode, change brush size and other features including colors. You can also change the opacity of a layer and look at a history of the image (with a preview).

The second part of the video shows how you can costumize the options of the touchbar for Photoshop. From what we have seen we are looking here mostly at time-saving productivity improvments but nothing that you can’t really do with the mouse or keyboard fairly easily – is it going to change the way many Mac users work with Photoshop – we think that this is very user dependent and maybe with some further refinements it can be a more powerful tool.
