Master White Balance & Color Temperature: 6 Expert Tips for Perfect Photos

On this video, by Pye from slrlounge looks at six important tips for understanding both white balance and color temperature for photographers.

Every photographer needs to understand color temperature. Since we are using light to take pictures and since light has different colors depending on the light source that we are using – understanding the nature of this light is essential.

So what types of temperatures does light come in and how do they effect our photography – well, starting from around 1700 kelvin (yes, temperature is measured in degrees kelvin) which is very warm, orange-red light we move all the way up to 10,000 degrees kelvin which represent very deep blue light (and everything else that you can see in the image Pye created in the middle – shown below and in the video).
