Apple Releases iOS 16 Beta 8: Now Available for Developers and Public Testers

Apple Releases iOS 16 Beta 8: Now Available for Developers and Public Testers

Apple has issued the eighth beta of iOS 16 for users enrolled in the iPhone beta testing program.

The latest beta is available for both developer beta and public beta users.

With iPhone 14 expected to launch in the coming weeks, it’s likely that iOS 16 beta 8 will be very close to the final build that will be shipping on those devices when they become available in September.

Currently there is not yet a matching new iPadOS 16 beta build.

If you’re in the beta testing programs for iPhone system software, you can find iOS 16 beta 8 or the latest iOS 16 public beta build from an iPhone by going to the Settings app > General > Software Update.

iOS 16 for iPhone includes a new customizable lock screen with widgets that can display information like weather, activity, or stock prices. There are also new Focus mode features that change the lock screen. Mail app has gained the ability to unsend emails, as well as schedule the sending of emails. Messages app includes a new ability to edit sent messages. iCloud Photo Library makes it easier to share photos through iCloud with friends and family. And there are many other smaller changes and improvements as well.

Beta system software is intended for advanced users, but if you’re curious and adventurous you can install the iOS 16 public beta on iPhone. Just be aware that the experience is buggier and less stable than you may expect, and some third party apps are likely to not work as expected.

The list of iPhones that run iOS 16 is fairly generous, but a few models that could run iOS 15 are removed from the list, so if you’re curious about compatibility be sure to check that out.

iOS 16 for iPhone will be released this fall, according to Apple. Typically Apple announces the release date of the latest operating system when they release a new iPhone, and iPhone 14 is expected to launch on September 7, so it’s reasonable to expect the final version of iOS 16 for iPhone to be available in the coming weeks.
