Sigma has just announced the pricing and availability of their newest macro lens. The lens is available immediately for an asking price of $1400.

First announced back in February, Sigma has just sent their newest macro lens out into the wild, and the lens is now available from the usual outlets for $1,400. The new Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro can be purchased on a Sigma, Canon or Nikon mount, depending on your preferred body, and can focus down to 1:1 magnification at 12.3 inches.
The 105mm is designed for full frame cameras, so when mounted on a cropped sensor, the effective focal length shifts to 150mm. This is only the second prime macro that Sigma has made which includes image stabilization — in this case, Sigma’s Optical Stabilizer (OS) technology. The minimum aperture on this lens is f/22, and it has a floating focus system to help you get a razor sharp look, and limit optical aberrations. Those of you obsessed with bokeh will doubtless enjoy the pleasantly smooth blur from the rounded nine-blade diaphragm.
