The 4x ultra-telephoto will be demoed at the Salon de la Photo 2013 in Paris

Tamron has announced a new zoom lens in the works, a high-end super-telephoto lens, whose focal length stretches an impressive 150-600mm. The Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DI VC USD (Model A011) has neither a date nor a price, but it does have a rather impressive selection of specifications.
The 150-600mm will feature “VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization, speedy, precise USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive), state-of-the-art eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) Coating”. It’ll pack 20 lens elements in 13 groups, with the front group containing three low dispersion glass elements. It will be able to focus down to 106.3 inches (2.7 meters), and is 10.1 inches (257.8mm) long, and weighs 68.8 oz (1,951 g). It has nine aperture blades, with a minimum aperture of f/32-40.
The 150-600mm lens will ship for Nikon, Canon, and Sony mounts, for both full frame and APS-C sensors. On the latter, the focal range is pushed to 233-930mm equivalent, making for an even longer zoom.
Unfortunately, Tamron has not revealed when this lens will be available, nor what it will ship for. But the company will be showing it off at the Salon de la Photo 2013, which runs November 7-11 in Paris, France. So if you happen to be in the neighborhood, you could stick your head in and see it for yourself.
