This morning, Fujifilm announced its newest smartphone printer, the Instax Mini Link. The handheld printer can spit out a print in about 12 seconds and can churn approximately 100 Instax prints per charge. It connects via Bluetooth to your phone where you can use the Mini Link app to customize frames, pick a still from a video, or access a new mode called Party Print.
Party Print lets users connect up to five smartphones to the app and combines numerous pictures into a collaged print. This addition also enables a feature called “Surprise Mode” which won’t reveal the collaged image until the print is made—bringing back a little bit of the magic of analog instant photography.
The Bluetooth capabilities also lets you use the printer to remotely control your smartphone camera. Zoom in my facing the printer down, zoom out by facing up, and fire the shutter by hitting the power button.
Although the printer is primarily meant for use with smartphones, it works with Fujifilm’s X Series and GFX System cameras as well through the Camera Remote app. The Instax Mini Link will be available on October 4 for $100 and comes in pink, navy, and white.
