Canon Officially Confirms EOS-1D X Mark III Development

Canon’s flagship camera the 1DX is getting a massive upgrade in the near future. The camera company officially confirmed that a 1DX Mark III is under development. Although we don’t know anything about pricing or availability, it sounds like the newest version will have some serious upgrades. Here is what we know about this camera so far:

  • Brand new CMOS sensor and DIGIC processor
  • Ability to capture 10-bit stills using HEIF
  • 4K video capability, including 4K60p with 10-bit 4:2:2 Canon Log internal recording
  • Enhanced auto focus system with improved stability and tracking when using the Optical Viewfinder or Live View
  • The new autofocus sensor has approximately 28 times the resolution of the EOS-1D X Mark II
  • Camera will support faster frame rates with full AF and AE, 16fps with the optical viewfinder and mechanical shutter and 20fps in Live View with the mechanical or electronic shutter
  • Dual CFexpress card slots for RAW bursts five times faster than the Mark II
  • Built in WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, and GPS technology
  • Faster data transfer with built-in Ethernet or wireless file transmitter
  • Increased control for selecting AF points in the AF-ON button

The 1DX Mark II is already an incredibly powerful camera and from the sounds of these early specs, the 1DX Mark III is going to be a beast. We can’t wait to learn more about this powerful camera.
