Adobe Showcases SkyReplace: Revolutionary Photoshop Sky Replacement Demo at MAX 2016

During Adobe Max 2016 convention in Las Vegas which started November 2, Adobe demonstrated many new interesting (future) technologies including a very cool tech called SkyReplace which allows you to swap the skies in almost any image with one or two clicks in a very realistic way.

Replacing a boring skies with a nicer one can be really cool and there are many ways of doing this in Photoshop (and other editing software – see below). But in general this takes quite a bit of time unless you are well practiced and even than it is nothing that you can do in one or two clicks.

Adobe wants to change all of that with a new tool (we are actually not sure if this will be part of Photoshop/Lightroom or some sort of standalone tool or both) which will enable you two basically switch the skies to either skies from a different image on your computer or one of any number of sky images from Adobe. All of this with very few clicks and basically automatically (and from the demo the results looks pretty awesome although note that they didn’t get into 100% and the ther images were not super complex).

We have quite a few videos on fixing and improving different problems with skies including: “How to Add a New Sky in Photoshop in Under 1 Min” “How To Do a Quick Sky Replacements In Photoshop“, “How to Fix a Smudgy Sky in Photoshop“, “Fixing the Sky with the Patch Tool in Photoshop“, “How to Replace a Skyline in Photoshop” and “How to Replace the Sky in Photoshop“ as well as How to Replace the Skies in a Photo with Photoshop Elements 14.

Last year at Adobe MAX we looked at another interesting tool called ExtractShading.
