Today on our ongoing video editing tip series here on LensVid in cooperation with PSkiss, we take a look at an advanced technique for changing the color of any object inside an image using Adobe Photoshop.
On this video Tal Ninio (PSkiss CEO) wants to replace the red color of a sports car in an image with a brighter yellow or blue color. To do follow the steps ahead:
- Add a hue-saturation adjustment layer (set the saturation all the way down).
- Add a second adjustment layer – curves (do nothing with it at this point).
- Add a solid color layer (with the color that you want to change your object to).
- Change the blend mode of this layer to color.
- Select all layers and using cmd/ctrl G to group them all.
- Select the background layer and using the selection tool select all the color parts in the original image that you want to change.
- Go to the group that you created and create a layer mask.
Now only the parts of the image that you picked change color – you can fix the mask by zooming in and using black or white to add or subtract areas.
