KraftGeek reached out to me through DRN, a tech review site owned by my colleague Kev, to test their JustTap tripod. After initial hesitation, I decided to give it a chance, hoping it could benefit our dPS community.
The JustTap™ Magnetic Phone Tripod is a compact, MagSafe‑compatible stand that extends up to 167 cm (the website lists 168 cm, but my tape measured 167 cm). That height is impressive—especially for someone who is 192 cm tall.
When fully extended, the tripod lowers an iPhone to roughly 37 cm above the ground, providing a stable platform for selfies or group shots. Despite its reach, the tripod folds into a size slightly larger than my Tamron 150‑500 mm lens, yet it’s considerably lighter.
The only limitation of its height is wind resistance. In a strong breeze, the phone can act like a sail. A simple solution is to attach a weighted object—such as a water bottle with a strap or a sand‑filled shopping bag—to the base to keep it grounded.
Unboxing the tripod, I was immediately struck by its robust construction. The weight feels substantial, reassuring me that it won’t fail after repeated use. I’ve taken it on several outings, and it has held up flawlessly so far.

Be aware that the magnetic mount is exceptionally strong. While this secures the phone firmly, removing it at an awkward angle could strain the tripod. The product includes a one‑year warranty; however, accidental damage from improper handling may not be covered.
The tripod also ships with a detachable metal ring that can be applied to the back of non‑MagSafe phones, extending its compatibility. Even though it’s not marketed as a light stand, I tested it with my Amaran Ace 25 W LED and it performed well.
Weighing under 0.5 kg (15.8 oz), the tripod is easy to store in camera bags, duffel bags, or picnic totes. It’s perfect for on‑the‑go photography, whether on a hike or at a casual event. Assembly from folded to ready takes roughly 8 seconds, as shown in KraftGeek’s demo video (available on their website).
The tripod also includes a small Bluetooth remote that magnetically attaches to one of the legs. The remote is USB‑C rechargeable and user‑friendly: pair it with your phone, launch the camera app, and press the single button to trigger the shutter or start/stop recording. It works seamlessly with the Moment Camera app as well.
Bluetooth range is approximately 15 m, making the remote ideal for group photos or family portraits. It detaches and reattaches effortlessly after use.
After repeated use, I’m satisfied with this compact, magnetically‑prepped tripod. It’s not engineered for wildlife photography at maximum height, but it excels as a portable, user‑friendly tool for capturing moments with friends. For the price, it delivers excellent value.
