From our standpoint, Sony's V1U is certainly an outstanding camcorder. This is Sony's newest high-end camcorder that records 1080i HDV and 480i DV video to miniDV tape. But before we get too ahead of ourselves there is a drawback, a special caveat for those waiting to edit that beautiful video: Sony's new 1080p/24 shooting mode doesn't have broad support yet from software manufacturers. This makes for editing sessions that aren't as straightforward as they'll be in the future.
Until broader support arises for some of the many shooting modes, you'll have to make due.
