Rode Upgrades Stereo VideoMic Pro with Innovative Rycote Lyre Suspension

Indie favourite audio kit maker Rode Microphones just announced an upgrade to their popular Stereo VideoMic Pro microphone, which now features the acclaimed Rycote Lyre suspension system. This is a similar upgrade that the new VideoMic Pro received, on which you can see our article we posted a while back here. The new Lyre suspension system prevents unwanted rumble and vibration noise from the base of the unit by isolating the capsule with an innovative suspension pattern. It’s worth to point out that the new Rycote Lyre suspension is just part of the upgrade – the new Stereo VideoMic Pro us also kitted out with an all-new matched pair of condenser capsules with an improved foam windshield, giving the new Stereo VideoMic Pro even higher sensitivity and lower self-noise.

In addition, a thicker, Kevlar-reinforced braided cable has been introduced. These improvements allow the Stereo VideoMic Pro to be used in conjunction with the RØDELink Wireless System, or Wi-Fi heavy locations without fear of RF interference ruining critical audio takes.

“We’re taking the Stereo VideoMic Pro to another level,” said Damien Wilson, RØDE’s Global Sales and Marketing Director. “With the Rycote® Lyre® addition and upgraded capsules, windshield and cable – it’s now even better value for an amazing quality product.”

Rode are also upgrading other popular accessories with the addition of the Rycote Lyre suspension system with the new SM3-R, SM4-R, PG2-R and PG2-R Pro Cable. The SM3-R camera shoe shock-mount, and SM4-R boom-pole/microphone stand shock-mount now feature a dual Rycote Lyre suspension system, with four possible mounting points for the Lyres, making them compatible with the entire range of short RØDE pencil condenser microphones, or longer RØDE shotgun Microphones.

The PG2-R pistol grip has also received the same Rycote Lyre update, as well as a newly designed lightweight handle that delivers improvements in ergonomics and functionality.
