Panasonic GH5 Tethered Shooting: Complete Step-by-Step Setup Guide

## Setting up a Tethered Shoot with the Panasonic GH5

What is Tethered Shooting?

* Allows a camera to be connected directly to a computer so the images you capture can be immediately available for viewing, editing, and organization on the computer.

* Useful for photography shoots requiring immediate image verification and editing.

* Commonly used in studio and product photography, portraiture, and events with on-site image processing requirements.

Prerequisites:

* Panasonic GH5 camera

* USB 3.0 cable (required for fast file transfer)

* Computer with compatible software (Lumix Tether for Panasonic, Canon EOS Utility, Nikon Camera Control Pro 2, Adobe Photoshop, Capture One, etc.)

Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Software Setup.

- Ensure compatible software is installed on the computer.

- If using software like Lumix Tether, follow the installation wizard to detect and connect to the GH5.

2. Camera Settings.

- Set the GH5 to Playback Mode.

- Select the USB Connection option in the camera's menu and set it to PC Mode.

- Some software requires selecting the Remote Recording or Remote Shooting mode.

3. Physical Connection.

- With the camera powered on and in Playback Mode, connect it to the computer using a USB 3.0 cable.

- Ensure a secure connection to avoid disconnections during the shoot.

4. Software Connection.

- Open the software you've chosen on your computer.

- It should automatically detect the GH5. If not, refer to the software's documentation for manual connection steps.

5. Software Control.

- Once connected, the software typically offers various options for controlling the camera remotely, such as shutter release, aperture, white balance, and ISO adjustments.

6. Live View and Capture.

- If the software supports live view, you'll see a real-time preview of your camera's view on your computer screen.

- When you capture images using the software's controls, the photos will immediately transfer to your computer, often displaying in a designated window or folder.

7. Image Review and Processing.

- As images are transferred, you can review them on your computer, make edits, and organize files as needed.

Tips:

- Use a laptop with a fast processor for smooth tethered shooting.

- Experiment with different software options to find the one that best suits your needs and workflow.
