A few months ago, Lensbaby offered its customers the chance to design customized aperture rings to be sold as an accessory for all of the Lensbaby products. The folks at Lensbaby then picked their favorite designs to be included in the Lensbaby Creative Aperture Kit 2—which is available starting today.

The traditional aperture disks that come standard with every lens each have a different size hole cut into the center. By swapping out one magnetic disk for another, one can easily change the aperture of the lens.

Disks in the “Creative Aperture Kit 2” do not have different sized holes, but rather different shapes, like a star, a heart, birds and various abstract designs. When utilizing one of these creative disks it’s important to remember, that the shape or design will only show through anywhere in the frame where there is bright light. Of the nine disks that come in the kit, five were designed by customers, while the other four were designed by the Lensbaby staff.

The disks work with virtually any Lensbaby product including: The Lensbaby Composer, Muse, Control Freak, Composer with Tilt Transformer and Scout lens bodies.

For those who want to create their own custom aperture disks, Lensbaby is also selling a blank set of disks that can be cut with any design. Head on over to Lensbaby.com for more information and to pick up your kit for $20.
