Sigma’s Art series has consistently delivered high‑performance optics, with the 35mm and 50mm F/1.4 lenses already proving their mettle in lab tests and among professional users. The new 24mm F/1.4 expands the lineup into the wide‑angle spectrum, offering photographers a fast aperture and excellent image quality for landscapes, interiors, and creative applications.
The lens features 15 elements arranged in 11 groups, incorporating FLD and SLD low‑dispersion glass to suppress chromatic aberration—an issue that can be pronounced at wide angles. Aspherical elements are also included, enhancing sharpness and reducing distortion when shooting wide open. Full‑time manual focus provides precise control, and the lens is compatible with Sigma’s USB dock, enabling firmware updates and fine‑tuning.
Available in Canon, Nikon, and Sigma mounts, the 24mm F/1.4 is priced at $849 for pre‑orders. For context, the 35mm F/1.4 sells around $800, while the newer 50mm F/1.4 is priced near $949. Though the wider field of view may introduce additional manufacturing challenges, Sigma’s engineering pedigree suggests strong performance. Comprehensive lab testing will confirm these expectations.
