Adobe just released a short sneak peek video demonstrating an upcoming feature aimed at Photoshop CC that should significantly improve the usability of the content aware fill.
We love content aware fill. We actually use this feature more often than almost any other feature in Photoshop and it is tremendously powerful. However, there are some situations where it does not behave the way we would like it to (and if you have been using content aware fill even sporadically you probably know what we are talking about here).
The problem is that so far there was no real control of this function – it just did its magic and that is about it. Unlike many other advanced tools in Photoshop where you can tweak and change parameters but also choose where the sample is taken – the content aware fill has none of that. However, according to this clip, it seems that Adobe is set on changing all of that and giving users the option to choose how to apply content ware fill and where to the sample from in the picture (which in our opinion is HUGE and a very long time coming).
We can’t really comment on how effective this feature is until we actually test it but we hope that in a few weeks (Photokina 2018 maybe?) we will see a new release of Photoshop with this cool feature and we can try it ourselves.
