Lightroom Pro Tip: Create Single-Action Custom Presets for Fast Editing | LensVid

Today on our ongoing video editing tip series here on LensVid in cooperation with PSkiss, we take a look at a very simple yet powerful way of creating personal presets for performing one action with one click in Lightroom to dramatically increase your productivity.

On this video Tal Ninio (PSkiss CEO) demonstrates the power of a very simple tool in Lightroom which allows users to create their own simple presets. There is nothing new to the tool or to this method – what is important however is the workflow that can be created by using this tool.

Let’s say that you are editing a large number of images and similar (but not identical) changes to each and every one of them. You use the same tools most of the time (for example increase or decrease exposure by 0.25) you can assign a preset to do one of each and the same goes for basically any other tool in Lightroom.

You might ask – why should you use this and not just go to your regular panel and change the exposure – the answer is speed – if you have only a small number of changes that you do all the time – having these specific presets will save you lots of time moving in the different abls and menus and changing sliders etc. Again this is the perfect tool for photographers working on lots of images and doing things which are close but not identical (otherwise you can create presets that do more than one thing and apply them to many images at once).

PSkiss makes different presets of its own for both Lightroom and Photoshop which you can find here.

We have looked at presets in Lightroom in the past on several videos including “How to Use Develop Presets in Lightroom” with  Mark Wallace, “Using Lightroom Presets and What You Can Learn from Them” with  Lesa Snider, “A Look at Lightroom Presets” with photographer Lindsay Adler and  Phil Steele and his look at Installing and Using Lightroom Presets.
