Explore the wilds of Brazil with Shutterstock contributor Vitor Marigo and learn about the role conservation photography plays in protecting nature.
Conservation photography is about a lot more than taking a pretty picture. Taking photographs with a conservation focus requires real dedication and passion. Shutterstock Presents: Artist Series highlights inspiring individuals around the world who are creating magic with their art. In the latest Artist Series, we introduce you to Rio de Janeiro-based photographer Vitor Marigo.
Conservation photography is in the family
Growing up in Brazil, Vitor was surrounded by the natural beauty of the Brazilian landscape. From cascading waterfalls to magical rainforests, it’s easy to find beauty in Brazil.
But Vitor was inspired by a lot more than just the beauty of this incredible country. His father, Luiz Claudio Marigo, was one of the foremost conservationists and environmentalists in Brazil. Luiz used his lens to protect the natural beauty of Brazil through his photography. Vitor learned from his photographer father and his trips across the country protecting this beauty, and it lit a flame in Vitor.
Vitor’s father’s passing was the push Vitor needed to carry on his legacy and focus on professional conservation photography in Brazil. Since Vitor has taken on photography full-time, his work has showcased some of the most dynamic landscapes in Brazil.
