Maxell Unveils Rugged iVDR Field Storage Drives at NAB 2008

We dropped by the Maxell booth at NAB 2008, to talk with them about their new line of field storage devices iVDR. Available starting quarter 2 of 2008, these rugged 2.5″ hard drives are designed to take a beating in the field while recording video directly from your camcorder. The iVDR media is designed to be used like cartridges, easy to pocket removable media with cradles that connect via USB or eSATA to your computer. Maxell claims that the iVDR system is capable of delivering 10-bit, 4:2:2 master-quality video and native full HD video. In its current form factor, Maxell iVDR solution is capable of storing 160 GB of data and has a transfer rate of 540 Mbps. With a 250 GB capacity expected in quarter 3 of this year.

More information is available at Maxell’s Website.
