Combining eye protection, wireless headphones, and augmented reality, the newly released Bose Frames are all about functionality, performance, and style. The open-ear headphone design allows you to stream music, take phone calls, respond to voice assistants, all in a private and personal format, while looking like a sleek pair of premium sunglasses.

The glasses, which come in two styles — Rondo (left, in the photo above) and Alto (right) — block up to 99 percent of UVA/UVB rays and include gold accents, like the power button, hinges, and charging ports. In total, they weigh in at just 45 grams and are shatter- and scratch-resistant, so can head out on your biggest adventures.
The classic shapes mean they complement any style, but their functionality and technology is really what bring them to another level.
Powered with Bose engineering, the wireless headphones have all of the automation securely fitted into the glasses’ arm interiors, keeping the audio crisp and clear for the wearer, but undetectable by outsiders. Voice and touch functionality are also included, and built into the right temple area, which allows for communication with assistants like Siri and Google Assistant, and the changing and pausing of songs, picking up phone calls, and commands, with the touch of the button.

While the Frames serve as a personal audio device, their most impressive feature is their augmented reality (AR) compatibility. Using a 9-axis head motion sensor and your smartphone’s GPS, the Frames can sense your movement and direction, and from there allow for hands-free and guided directions, learning, and more. Bose AR features games, activity, and travel immersion, available through the Bose Connect app, whether you’re looking for physical activity apps, information on nearby locations, or storyline-themed games that turn Frames wearers into characters.

The Frames contain a lithium battery that can be charged using the provided pogo-pin cable, and one full charge (which takes about two hours to charge) provides up to 3.5 hours of listening.
