Consumers and critics have generally been impressed with Samsung’s flagship smartphone output so far in 2015. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge showed that the Korean company can do premium and eye-catching as well as it can plastic and dull. However, every year I say for a true gauge of how good Samsung is right now and indeed can be, you have to look to its phablet flagship… the Galaxy Note.
That handset is coming to its fifth iteration and it is simply the best large screen smartphone available and maybe the best period. Year after year the Note series pushes the boundaries of mainstream specs and while many think Samsung is finding its design feet with the S6, the Note series has been consistently good-looking.
So, what do we expect to see when the Galaxy Note 5 launches either this month of at the IFA trade expo in Berlin at the turn of September? Well, a spiffing decked out handset for sure, but the finer details of the specifications are impressive. Evan Blass, who some of you may remember as the famed leaker @Evleaks has offered his take on the hardware likely to arrive in the Note 5, and needless to say it is stunning.
It seems like the Galaxy Note 5 will be easily the thinnest in the series so far, and will probably be under 7mm thin. Following the OnePlus 2 this week, the Note 5 will also come with a USB Type-C port which allows the USB cable to be plugged in either way, easier to avoid fumbling while also offering improved speeds. The new connector port allows 4K video streaming and it can charge the battery quicker.
Other specs include a 5.7-inch quad HD display, a 16-megapixel rear camera and 32GB of built-in storage. A micro SD slot is sadly unlikely, but a 4100 mAh battery, 4GB of RAM, and a blazing Samsung Exynos processor are.
