In an effort to set themselves apart from the ever-expanding micro four thirds crowd, Panasonic has upped the wide angle ante with their upcoming 8mm fisheye lens for their Lumix G series cameras. It’s made up of 10 elements in nine groups, which allows it to be impressively small and light. It checks in at just over two-inches long and weighs 5.82-ounces. Despite its small size, it still offers up a 180-degree (diagonal) field of view, without cropping out the corners of the image on the frame. In order to cut down on the distortion that can happen with ultra-wide lenses, they opted for Exra-low dispersion glass. The aperture is a seven-blade design and there’s a slot in the barrel for the use of filters.
