Early this morning Nikon announced the compact and lightweight Z50 mirrorless camera. It’s the first mirrorless DX format camera in Nikon’s lineup. The Z50 is built around a 20.9 megapixel BSI CMOS APS-C sensor with on-sensor phase detection. There’s no in-body image stabilization, but at 0.87 lbs the camera is significantly smaller than either the Z6 or Z7.

Nikon also announced two new kit lenses for the Z50: the Nikkor Z DX 16-50mm F3.5-6.3 VR and the Z DX 50-250mm F4.5-6.3 VR. Both lenses have a built-in control ring and offer some image stabilization: the 16-50mm has 4.5 stops, while the longer zoom has 5 stops.
