The Fujifilm GFX camera system has a new 45-100mmF4 R LM OIS WR lens on the way and some exciting new pieces of glass coming in the imminent future. The GF45-100mmF4 R LM OIS WR lens, which is the equivalent of a 36-79mm on a smaller 35mm format system, fits in nicely with the two existing zoom lenses: the GF32-64mmF4 R LM WR and the GF100-200mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR. Here is what else we know about this new piece of glass:
- 16 elements form 12 groups, including 3 aspherical elements, 1 super ED element and 1 ED element for controlling spherical aberration, field curvature and chromatic aberration
- 5-axis image stabilization
- High-speed autofocus motor for quiet focusing
- Dust and weather-resistant construction sealed at 11 points and allows the lens to operate in temperatures as low as 14 degrees.
- Weight: approximately 2.2 lbs
- Length: 5.69 inches long, making it quite compact for a large format camera system
- Available late February for $2,300
Fujifilm has also released an updated roadmap of GF lenses, which now includes two prime lenses and brings the total number of lenses that Fujifilm is planning to roll out for the system to 13. Details are a little sparse on these new primes, but we now know that the company is working on a GF 30mm F3.5 R WR and a GF 80mm F1.7 R WR, Fujifilm says the 30mm will be an ideal wide angle prime for landscape photographers. The 80mm lens will be the fastest aperture for the line and is obviously aimed at portraits, shooting in low light conditions and anyone who wants to produce images with beautiful bokeh.
